But there are some NC Miatas I love. This one has one of the most desirable parts ever made for an NC. Reworked NA Miata taillights. Only seven in the world, insanely expensive when they make it to the classifieds and absolutely gorgeous. Add in Volks with a good fitment and I’d daily the shit of this.
Compare to a stock NC with the tacky hoop “style bar”, ugly altezza taillights, massive wheel gap, etc. I’m normally not a huge fan, but the small ducktail trunk lid really works here. It’s a shame the guy who converted the NA taillights will no longer do them.

That is how they should have done the NC’s tail lights out of the factory, none of that fancy crap.

Barchetta tail lights! I did an Oppo post a while back when a set was for sale on Miata(dot)net for $1250! I could’ve sworn there were only 5 in the world but I can believe there’re 7 out there!

That definitely fixes the majority of the issues I have with the NC. But also, the ND fixes ALL of the issues as well. I like to just think the NC generation didn’t happen. It’s really nice how fast the ND is and how not stupid it looks.

Five from the original creater, and apparently someone else did two more. I’m not sure if he got the design from the original guy or figured it out on his own... Sounds like they were stopped because of how difficult it was to do properly?
It bothers me how much this makes me want an NC!

I’m going to imagine that starting within the next five years NC’s will start to get a lot more love. It’s already happening a bit with the 2.5 swaps and the plethora of racing wheel choices. Eventually good NA’s will be priced over good NC’s... That’s a scary thought

Those other two were either reverse-engineered or someone had enough time to figure it out on their own. I love the look of it, it completely changes the look of the NC for the better. I wouldn’t be surprised if the time and effort to build them was the limiting factor for Barchetta.

OEM NC and RX8 and Mazda6 tail lights from that era are all travesties. It was a bad time for the mazda light design department.

Hi guys,
I’d like to apologize on behalf of Mr “For Michigan” for that grossly inappropriate image. It’s unfortunate that some in our community feel theneed to bring up the NC Miata’s front end, and as a means of apology, PLEASE accept this NA.
Thank you, and may this never happen again

The problem is that the NC is just so butt ugly to start out with. That MASSIVE wheel gap issue is so painful to see but I suppose that problem started with the NB anyways and is relatively easy to fix. Whoever thought that was a good design choice needs to be shot lol.
